Giant Monster kindle ✓ eBook Paperback Giant MonsterSteve Niles is a great author and for my money with '30 Days of Night' the only person in recent history to have something original to bring to stories of vampires Here he tackles 'kaiju' or as the title of the book simply puts it a giant monster An astronaut is heading home when something engulfs his ship He plummets to earth now seemingly some crazed huge monster that feeds on just

Giant Monster kindle ✓ eBook Paperback Giant MonsterAs a big fan of giant monster movies I read this out of curiosity It was pretty mediocre The story is very deliberately tongue in cheek An astronaut coming home is infected by an alien and turns into a ravenous giant monster that eats everything in sight His wife is brought in to calm him down but he kills her because she cheated on him A Nazi scientist under the employ of the USA unleashes a giant Nazi robot to fi

Giant Monster kindle ✓ eBook Paperback Giant MonsterOn the plus side the art in this graphic novel by Nat Jones is generally pretty good The story on the other hand is incredibly silly An astronaut on his way back to earth gets attacked and taken over by some alien parasite transformed into some kind of growing giant monster that attacks and eats everyone he sees until he gets attacked and defeated by a giant Nazi robot Given that summary one should know what to expect here This reads like a really bad B movie which might have worked on screen but not so much on the page One cliche is piled on another until the last page And after getting to the last page I turned expecting only to ask myself That was it? The latter part of the hardcover contains Niles' script for the first issue this was originally published as a 2 issue series which only helps reveal how thin the story is and how much the art saves it from being a complete waste of time

Giant Monster kindle ✓ eBook Paperback Giant MonsterPopcorn flick on paperThese days it's hard not to compare a graphic novel with its potential movie adaptation That is especially true in the case of Giant Monster a piece of comic book storytelling set out to emulate a modern take on 1950s B movie horror It certainly targets a niche audience at least where it hopes to make a sale I checked it out from a local libraryThe book is a uick read An amusement park ride could entertain similarly well and briefly where knowing its a cheap thrill tempers any emotional investment That won't keep you from valuing the presence of such an option or returning when the time feels right

Giant Monster kindle ✓ eBook Paperback Giant Monsterbrilliant graph novel over the top gore Reminds me of the movie slither One of those rare contemporary american splatter films that oozes gore but has absolutely no sex The japanese have several modest films like that Perhaps its because boys like violence but still think girls have cooties Bu

Giant Monster kindle ✓ eBook Paperback Giant MonsterI bought this without hesitation since Steve Niles wrote it His 30 Days of Night and his adaptation of I Am Legend were flawless and I can't recommend them highly enoughSadly this didn't do it for me I mean its not BAD and some of the arts is really cool but I don't really feel for any of the characters Its is as some reviews I've since read say very 1950s monster movie I don't know I'm not sure I'm even keeping my copy

Giant Monster kindle ✓ eBook Paperback Giant MonsterThis feels like a very loose movie pitch an astronaut gets a weird alien parasite gets hungry grows and destroys stuff The government and his crying wife try to stop him It's cliche but it's done pretty well Nat Jones' black and white art is solid But there's nothing here that hasn't been done in a Godzilla movie before Except maybe the brief Nazi weirdness at the end

Giant Monster kindle ✓ eBook Paperback Giant Monsterthis short series was as great as the title implied about little else than a giant monster that fights a giant robot it was just what needed in the short time that i had it contained most of the basic genre conventions with lots of predictability but the art was stunning the antihero's two timing bitch of a girlfriend got what she deserved and it was just overall fun
