The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameThat the storyline of this book written years ago is almost identically the one in the 2018 Prime Video Series on Jack Ryan even down to the name Sulamon they changed Asad to Sulamon And in the Prime show Sulamon and his brother survived and all the rest of the family died in the attack on Libya '86 This book of course is Asad having sex with the girl on the rooftop but the rest of the story the same Hmmmmmm Great book though loved it and all the other books in the series

The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameRarely do I find a suspensecrime novel that can throw in a plot twist at the end that surprises But the Lions Game did just thatnot once but three times Don't get me wrong I love James Patterson's Alex Cross series and the Women's Murder series but they are pretty predictable Even Kathy Reichs has the same successful formulacrime bull headed heroine gets captured rescue just in time ending resolved usually with a moral of the story thrown in for a bonusJohn Corey is an obnoxious hero who borders on a little too much mouth for his own good but deMille has walked the fine line of making him funny and likable Then not one but three surpri

The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameIf you enjoy mysteries and action you should have a blastThis being the second in the series and the second DeMille I've read I gotta say that I like the main character in these books Corey These are well thought out stories and I am now finding myself a fan of Nelson DeMille John Corey is true to character and I laugh at his jokesMy only grievance is that Corey is so full himself he occasionally doesn't know when to stop wit

The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameArmed with firsthand knowledge of police humor in the face of incredible stress has helped DeMille tell the truth a must in providing readers with realistic scenarios in fiction Those readers who appreciate DeMille's talent will not be disappointed John Corey stays true to a policeman's take on the jobs done by other agencies and how they do those jobs; and he gains their respect by doing everything they cannot proving he is his task force's most valuable asset Precisely as described for his very presence being one of the team in the first place and true to form set up as bait most dispensable he nevertheless plays by no one's rules and pursues the suspected assassin on instinct A must read for all future writers of suspenseful cop stories revealing how important research i

The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameTwo enjoyable things about DeMille's writing are his trenchant characterizations of government bureaucrats in the CIA and FBI and a wonderfully sardonic wit The plot is plausible and based upon the persistent conflict of muslims vs infidels But mental derangement posing as religious piety can get boring Why do billions of humans accept preposterous religious dogma which is often used to justify evil on a colossal scale that otherwise would be considered insanity? Perhaps it's in our DNA to believe Maybe it once conferred an evolutionary survival advantage through tribal cohesion during incessant conflict This concept was suggested in “The Faith Instinct” by

The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameThis just so happens to be my favorite book of all times unseating The Princess Bride from its 20 year reignI read it roughly 10 years ago I'm not sure when it came out but then I have been wanting to re read it again but the timing needed to be proper for me to really savor The Lions Game againI'm sure others will describe the exact details of the book so I am just here to say that DeMille has clearly done his research & then some regarding the history of and modern events in Libya making this an extraordinary work of historical fiction The inner thoughts of Assad Khalil his jouney into becoming who he became & the extraordinary look into day to day life amongst the backdrop of real events that did happen outside of the book wer

The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameAny reader probably knows that work created by this author is going to be worth the time spent with it And this book was too I found it relatively fast moving action filled and packed with good to know background facts Book one and now book two make it easy to grow accustomed to and fond of the rapier wit of Coreythe lead character and voice of the author I literally laughed out loud while reading although the story is uite serious It reminded me of so many of the headlines of the day set in the 80s I'd love an updated version of this story In fact I found the ending a bit anti climactic and in need of closure perhaps in the form of a seuel when Asad has aged physically but not emotionally

The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameThis was the first of the Neville De Mille novels I read and I've just finished reading it for the second time I can see why I became hooked on his books To me this book was; exciting interesting sexy funny and thoroughly entertaining The two main characters were great and it was fun to see their relationship develop The villain was ruthless and there was evidence as to how he had become the man he was There were other great characters throughout what was a very big well described tale Highly rescommended

The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameHaving read four previous John Corey novels I didn't need much persuading to like The Lion's Game DeMille's practice of counterpointing violent and often evil events with his protagonist's weakness for the flippant wisecrack is not an easy trick to pull off but he is able to make it work Unsurprisingly some of the jokes are better than others Have you experience of terrorism? I was marriedIt is a pity that other reviewers have divulged rather a lot of the plot; suffice it to say that from a clever opening involving a strange occurrence with a passenger jet incoming to JFK it pits Corey against a ferociously committed foreign killer with a mission There are good surprisesThere is nothing new in cross referencing characters and events from the author's previous books and it didn't bother me as it has some but the book's ending is far from what might have been anticipated Full marks for that

The Lion's Game doc ô Audio Cassette Ô join or create book clubs The Lion's GameThe Lion's Game is a cracking good story well told with lots of pace and excitement Nelson DeMille creates strong interesting characters and this book went into my 130am category that is I'd look at the bedside clock at 130am and wonder if I should read another chapterHowever it tailed off at the end and I was left with a distinct feeling of anti climax This was the first Nelson DeMille book that I'd read but I've subseuently read The General's Daughter and I noticed a similar anti climatic ending there too as if I'd done all the exciting reading but the reward for completing the book was a bit thin Maybe he just gets bored with the story h
